After the success of the 2017 Space Generation Congress (SGC) held in Adelaide, Australia, SGAC is beginning preparations for SGC 2018. SGAC is looking for highly motivated young space leaders to join SGAC as the SGC Organising Team for next year’s Space Generation Congress to be held in Bremen, Germany.

About the 17th Space Generation Congress (SGC)

The 17th SGC will take place in Bremen, Germany from 27th – 29th September 2018, in conjunction with the 69th International Astronautical Congress (IAC). SGAC is expanding, and the organization is looking for highly motivated young space leaders to join SGAC as the SGC Global Organising Team for next year’s Space Generation Congress.

The Space Generation Congress (SGC) is SGAC’s annual meeting in support of the United Nations (UN) Programme on Space Applications. Top university students and young professionals with a passion for space will travel from all around the globe to attend three days of the 17th SGC. The 150 delegates will enjoy an inspiring and resourceful engagement with their peers at the congress, held in Bremen, Germany on 27th – 29th September 2018 prior to the 69th International Astronautical Congress (IAC).

Working Group Team (2 Positions)

This role supports the development and management of the SGC Working Groups.

Responsibilities:

  • Working in consultation with the SGC Manager and the Working Group sponsors on developing the Working Group topics
  • Support the sponsor in preparation of pre-requisite  reading materials for the Working Group sessions
  • Coordinating and ensure Working Groups are on task, prior, during and after the event
  • Close coordination with the SGAC Reports and Editing Teams
  • Following up with and supporting Working Groups regarding SGC final reports including coordinating and some report editing

Estimated time commitment: 8 hours per day during the event, 2 hours per week prior to event.

Period of Performance: 01 Feb 2018 to 01 Nov 2018

Requirements:

  • SGAC Membership (free registration on the SGAC website required, and aged 18-35 years old during the period of performance)
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, good grammar and writing skills
  • Ability to liaise effectively with senior members of the space sector
  • Interest in developing relevant discussion topics and selecting speakers
  • Prior experience as delegate or team in an SGAC Event is prefered

Delegate Team (4 Positions)

This role works with the SGC delegates throughout all the stages of SGC 2018, including: application, scholarships, delegate registration, delegate coordination and delegate feedbacks prior, during, and after SGC 2018. In addition, the role requires a quick response rate and high level of time commitment to ensure that delegates are kept up-to-date prior to SGC, and to aid coordination of the delegate ticketing system.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating all contact and registration of SGC 2018 delegates
  • Acting as focal point of contact for delegate requests
  • Support the coordination of all the SGC 2018 scholarships, including travel, logistics, and management to ensure a positive experience for scholarship winners to SGC
  • Work together with the SGAC Scholarships Coordinators

Estimated time commitment: 8 hours per day during the event, 3 hours per week prior to event.

Period of Performance: 01 Feb 2018 to 01 Nov 2018

Requirements:

  • SGAC Membership (free registration on the SGAC website required, and aged 18-35 years old during the period of performance)
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, good grammar and writing skills
  • Ability to provide world-class customer service to delegates and rapidly solve issues
  • Interest in working with international cultures and diverse backgrounds
  • Prior experience as delegate or team in an SGAC Event is prefered

Media Team (2 Positions)

This role requires the development and management of SGC graphics, public relations, and advertising material, both internationally and in Germany, while working very closely with the SGAC Public Relations and Communications (PR and Comms) Team.

Responsibilities:

  • Media relations and advertising before, during, and after the SGC
  • Contributing to SGAC efforts in social media
  • Design and creation of multimedia content such as graphics and videos
  • Developing brochures for promotional and organisational materials
  • Writing press releases
  • Liaising with IAC and other organisations on promotion

Estimated time commitment: 8 hours per day during the event, 2 hours per week prior to event.

Period of Performance: 01 Feb 2018 to 15 Oct 2018

Requirements:

  • SGAC Membership (free registration on the SGAC website required, and aged 18-35 years old during the period of performance)
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, good grammar and writing skills
  • Interest in developing social media presence, creating and editing brochures and flyers
  • Experience in photo/videography, video-editing and graphic design
  • Experience with publications is an asset
  • Prior experience as delegate or team in an SGAC Event is prefered

Editor Team (2 Position)

This role requires English on native speaker level. The SGC Editors are in charge of reviewing SGC related documents and articles before publishing.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and propose corrections to all SGC related information
  • Coordinate with the reports team to make sure all documents are in agreement with organisation level language requirements
  • Lead the editing process for SGC 2018 Final Report, consisting of a summary of the recommendation from the SGC Working Group discussions

Estimated time commitment: 8 hours per day during the event, 2 hours per week prior to event.

Period of Performance: 01 Feb 2018 to 01 Nov 2018

Requirements:

  • SGAC Membership (free registration on the SGAC website required, and aged 18-35 years old during the period of performance)
  • Native English speaker, excellent grammar and writing skills.
  • Experiences in writing articles and publications
  • Prior experience as delegate or team in an SGAC Event is prefered

Support Team (2 Positions)

This role requires to be flexible and able to support all tasks described above and thus to support other roles when needed. This role is meant to be multidisciplinary as it covers a wide range of activities that vary over time as the need arises.

Responsibilities:

  • Support of all SGC Coordinators as assigned by the SGC Manager.

Estimated time commitment: 8 hours per day during the event, 2 hours per week prior to event.

Period of Performance: 01 Feb 2018 to 01 Nov 2018

Requirements:

  • SGAC Membership (free registration on the SGAC website required, and aged 18-35 years old during the period of performance)
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, good grammar and writing skills
  • Interest in working with international cultures and diverse backgrounds.
  • Interest in being involved in multiple aspects of planning the event
  • Prior experience as delegate or team in an SGAC Event is prefered
