Starters pack
This has been on the shelf for quite some time
(the Executive Office might currently be looking
into it), but Space Generation needs a Starters Pack.
A nice looking brochure which provides context
(though the Annual Report does that too) and
more importantly which gives clear examples to
newbies of what someone can DO.
I find the TakingITGlobal Guide to Action really really good
(TIG is btw an organisation in nature quite similar to SGAC!).
Check it out:

Great suggestion and example, Jim!
Would you please introduce yourself under the "Welcome to the SGAC PR Team -- Intros" topic?
Ahmad, our new Afghanistan NPoC had asked for an introductory SGAC PowerPoint presentation, and I've started a preliminary one for review soon.
He and our Sweden NPoC are both doing startup SGAC activties in their countries, so I'm going to ask them to work on a "SGAC Start Up Pack" as you say, since they'll have fresh new experience. If we can get that together, we'll put it up for review of the RCs and NPoCs with years of experience, and get an inclusive document for new Coordinators and Contacts.
Thanks!
Rock on!
I got the go ahead for this...
Ahmad and Alan, I have a request of you two.
For a long while, SGAC has needed a "SGAC Start Up Guide" for people who have ambitions of initiating SGAC activities and networks in their countries. Both of you are in the unique position of doing just this, and will undoubtedly have very valuable "lessons learned" as you go which many others could benefit from as they undertake the same extremely admirable tasks.
May I ask you to record your specific steps, actions, and lessons over the next few months, keeping track of them in a document, or perhaps online in this PR Team forum if you wish, to share the experience as it happens? I'm sure many members of SGAC, as well as SGC applicants, would be interested in following along, supporting and encouraging you, adding suggestions, and perhaps even finding inspiration in your endeavors to initiate their own national actions.
With both of you working on it, and especially with your extensive past experiences, Alan, I think this could be an invaluable document for the far-reaching future of SGAC, and I would hope one or both of you would be willing to present it during one of the breakout sessions of the PR Team at SGC 2007. Also, with both of you working on it, we can make sure that the ideas represented are international in nature, just like SGAC.
Eventually our outcome (the "Start Up Pack") will have three main products (unless we can think of additional ones...):
* Your Start-up Guide on ways to establish space networks and get people involved, based on your own current experience and the eventual input of established RCs, NPoCs, and EC members
* An FAQ for other new leaders on the basics of SGAC and starting in their new positions
* My Intro to SGAC presentation which will have officially agreed upon text designed to introduce the organization to interested groups of people that haven't heard of it before
How about it?
Hello Everyone,
Starters Pack is exectly what we have been needing for quite sometime - thanks for bringing it up Jim! We have been talking a lot about having one, but never got around to create it. It would not only help all our new enthusiastic NPoCs but also my self :-). I am the one who recruits them and gets them through the entire process. Becasue we don't have a starters pack it takes a lot of work to teach Space Gen 101 to each individual NPoC. If you have any questions or need some help relating to this please let me know!
You guys rock!
