Initial Efforts
We couldn't register as a official party organiser but had a great time at our college celebrating the first human flight.
We had actually came out with a wall mag that was put up in our college's hostels that was themed around human space flight. Then yesterday night we put up our telescope at roof and invited all the faculty, staff and students for an open sky show. Inspite of being a Thursday night and end of semester time, people turned up for the sky party and stayed up till late night. We had some great fun events like Meteor sightings, shape tracings through the sky, human satellite spotting, view of venus, jupiter and saturn through the telescope.
We hope to arrange for accommodation and hospitality services before we could officially organise this event next year...
wishing you great skies ahead !!!

Awesome to hear Vish. I celebrated Yuris' night on Second Life along with what I think they estimated at 150 people during the course of the day. It went off spectacularly well despite the lag it generated. The platform they built for the event actually spanned four different sims and had live music going most of the day. I think people were hanging out there the whole 24 hour period. It was very interesting to see how effectively they used this new medium and how much positive response it generated.
i realise the amount of fun that must have been flowing around... however at my place it wasn't as much of a party exactly...u know there wasnt any music, nor dance no drinks although we did keep some snacks :P. the problem was it had to be done officially...if it would have been students doing this at some place of there own then it would surely have been something like u say..but here we had to take permissions from the administration to be on the terrace then from the hostel incharges to let people out late in the night etc etc... i know they all sound like spoil sport but here they are supposed to be maintaining discipline...
this is probably one place we lag behind the western countries... our elders n our authorities want us to be dependent on them... think we might go wrong some place...their reasons sound valid enough at once, ok, but then we have to make mistakes to learn (although not essentially)... same goes with the academics...seriously very less independent work is appreciated...most students here try to mug up n go through the whole curriculum hardly learning anything out of it...dude ignorance is bliss for most in this part of the world...n thts why we need places like SGC to let students come up individually, think and create what they dream of, be themselves before rest of the world. everything is not so bad though, there are a few things around with which we make up for all this...but dont know how many r as lucky as us !!
our college has a beach in its campus !! i hope now u can imagine what we r free for once there... open skies, open sea, people meet there, play, have fun, hang out, n ya of course party...n party real hard... although we r nt supposed to b there in night...but thts where the fun part increases... not all rules are to be followed...right ;)
