Space Security Projects

Space Security encompasses several hot topics. Space Debris, NEOs, Space Traffic Management and also of course the heated discussions going on on the TALK list in February and March about the ASAT Tests. Get involved!

Visions for the next 50 years

Our flagship project this year is the development of visions for the next 50 years of space. This project commemorates the 50th anniversary of space travel taking place in 2007. The first stages involved surveys of youth from around the world to collect their visions. These visions were unveiled in Boston on Yuri's Night 2007, and will be developed throughout the course of this year.

We will go ahead by creating a roadmap to take the project further in 2008 and 2009.

Participation is open to all Space Generation members. The are plenty of opportunities to contribute, so please visit the project site or contact Bee for more information.

SGAC SPIDER group

On 25th of June 2009 the SGAC ad-hoc group on disaster management, risk-reduction and capacity building went online as a youth group to assist the United Nations-SPIDER (Space based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response). The group collects students and young professionals who have come together at SGAC to create better awareness of UN-SPIDER’s activities and programs and would like local communities, NGO groups and other organizations to robustly tackle different disasters. Get involved!
