On April 12, 2008, over 8,100 people came to the NASA Ames Research Center for a 12 hour festival in celebration of Yuri' Gagarin, the first human in space and the first flight of the US Space Shuttle by John Young and Bob Crippen 20 years later. The event was co-hosted by SGAC and the NASA Ames Research (ARC)Center at the NASA ARC Hanger 211 and on the airfield.

There about 100 science, art, technology, and engineering exhibits by NASA, local companies, and artists from around the world supporting the theme of "Radical Technology for a Sustainable Future." Each exhibit Either showed some aspect of radical technology or new uses of of methods and materials to improve sustainability. There was also a one hour aerial demonstration by Aeronautika featuring three airplanes from the 1950s, one of which was the same model Yuri Gagarin flew when he was in the Soviet Air Force before he became the first cosmonaut. There were also more than 50 speakers, musicians, aerialists, DJs, VJs, and other performers throughout the event on four stages.
