Students Reaching Students
Students Reaching Students
The Students Reaching Students (SRS) award will be earned by a group which successfully completes a project which serves the purpose of both education and service.
This award must be given to a sanctioned student club or non-for-profit organization. The mentioned group project must focus on increasing awareness and public education for space exploration.
Here are some hypothetical examples:
1) A local SEDS (Students for the Exploration and Development of Space) chapter which holds demonstrations and lectures for school students on the benefits of human space exploration.
2) A media studies chapter which composes a space-exploration DVD for museums to show in space exhibits.
SRS will be open to all sanctioned organizations. This means that all majors are considered.
This year, our goal is to set things up so that we might offer an award at Space Generation Congress 2008, in Scotland.
Our task list is as follows:
1) Further define the criteria for this award. (this is define what they have to do, host an event, create a web page, make a flyer, I suggest for the first time, limit it to one category. In fact, if you want to do “the best web page promoting space” you could probably do that and give a small award this year
2) Set up how the winner will be decided (most people at an event, some type of follow up, etc)
3) Set a time schedule for open of applications, close of applications, judging, notification.
4) Writing an application, and establishing a web-application. (is this to have the potential groups submit their work or what?)
5) Determine the amount we wish to award.
6) Finding a sponsor.
7) Opening applications.
